This monograph presents a rigorous, evidence-based investigation into the relationship between spatial morphology and household energy consumption in Chinese cities. Drawing on data from 286 prefecture-level cities, with an in-depth focus on four provincial capitals—Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, and Taiyuan—the book develops quantitative models linking urban structure to transportation and domestic energy use. At the macro scale, it examines the "3Ds + Centrality" framework, revealing an optimal population range of 2 to 5 million and a "U-shaped" relationship between floor-area ratio and traffic energy consumption. At the neighborhood scale, it establishes predictive models for household energy use based on building density, layout, and greening. By integrating urban and neighborhood-level analyses, the book proposes design guidelines for energy-efficient urban and neighborhood regeneration, offering critical insights for sustainable urban regeneration in the context of carbon neutrality.
